Description/Bio: Monica is a bitter woman. And, while her anger is truly aimed at her ex-husband, it manifests itself with almost everyone close to her. She still lives in Chicago, which is a blessing for Jess. They speak, though, two or three times a day, and each conversation usually ends with someone hanging up the phone in frustration/anger/exasperation/exhaustion.

Monica has given up on men for herself, but wishes her daughter would settle down and give her a grandchild. She believes in Jess’ work, although she’d like her daughter to start making a living for herself so she can stop making this six-year long independent film. Monica also dislikes most of Jess’ friends, something she has done since Jess was a child.

Bari Biern

Bari Biern is actually much nicer than the character she plays–or is she kidding herself? She’s been performing with the political satire troupe, the Capitol Steps, since the Clinton administration. Fans of the video game Star Trek: Legacy will recognize Bari as the voice of evil Vulcan scientist, T’Uerell. She is also a playwright/lyricist, reviews videos for Metro Connection on WAMU-FM and freelances as an off-camera announcer on C-SPAN.
